What is the difference between Solfeggio and Rife frequencies?

Solfeggio frequencies are a 9-tone scale (174, 285, 396, 417, 528, 639, 741, 852, 963 Hz) popularized in the 1970s by Dr. Joseph Puleo and Dr. Leonard Horowitz. Each tone is associated with a chakra or emotional theme in modern sound healing. Rife frequencies are a much larger catalog of tones recorded by Royal Raymond Rife in the 1930s. Can I use these without headphones?

What is 528 Hz used for?

528 Hz is the “Mi” tone of the Solfeggio scale, traditionally associated with transformation, the heart, and the “love” frequency. A 2018 study by Akimoto, Hu, Yamaguchi, and Kobayashi published in Health (Volume 10, pp. 1159 to 1170) reported: “In the 528 Hz condition, mean levels of cortisol significantly decreased, chromogranin A tended to decrease, and oxytocin significantly increased after music exposure.” The study used 9 participants and is small but suggestive. Are these the same as the frequencies on Spotify and YouTube?

No. Most YouTube and Spotify frequency tracks are bedroom recordings or auto-generated tone files compressed to streaming quality. What is 432 Hz versus 440 Hz?

440 Hz is the modern standard concert pitch (A4). 432 Hz is an alternative tuning some musicians and sound healers prefer for its perceived warmth and resonance. The archive includes 432 Hz tuned versions of select tracks for listeners who prefer this tuning.

What is 7.83 Hz?

What is 40 Hz used for?

40 Hz is the gamma brainwave frequency. MIT’s Picower Institute has studied 40 Hz sensory stimulation for cognitive engagement and brain health. The foundational citation is Iaccarino et al., “Gamma frequency entrainment attenuates amyloid load and modifies microglia,” Nature, 540(7632), 230 to 235, 2016 (DOI 10.1038/nature20587).
